Leh

Leh is the natural base for most Ladakh journeys, surrounded by bare mountains, clear skies, monasteries, and high-desert valleys. The town brings together acclimatisation time, local markets, Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Sankar Gompa, cafes, and day trips toward the Indus Valley. Its dry landscape and wide views match the classic Ladakh image: open roads, pale mountains, and intense blue sky. A good Leh itinerary moves slowly at first, then branches toward monasteries, passes, lakes, and longer road trips.
